What, Why, Who

What is the Institute?

A 501(c)(3) non-profit whose goal is safe, reliable AI — hypothesizing that neuro-symbolic ideas incorporating both learning and knowledge/reasoning can resolve the key issues preventing AI use in cannot-fail fields like medicine, law, defense, and finance.

Why was it created?

These questions are important and difficult enough to necessitate an entity motivated by public good rather than profit, insulated from commercial conflicts of interest and short-term industrial timelines.

Who are the people?

A network of collaborators spanning KRR, machine learning, computation, and beyond — including academia at Stanford, CMU, Harvard, Yale, Purdue, and USP, plus volunteers from industry.
